Creating a restaurant promo video that feels cinematic and appetizing is tough. Static shots of food can look flat, and handheld footage can feel amateur. Motion control AI video generation solves this by letting you guide camera and subject movement precisely. In this guide, we'll walk through a practical team workflow using Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to produce a polished restaurant promo—from planning to final export.

Why Motion Control Matters for Restaurant Promos

Motion control in AI video generation gives you control over how the camera moves (pan, tilt, zoom, orbit) and how subjects move within the frame. For a restaurant promo, this means you can create a slow push-in on a sizzling steak, a smooth pan across a table full of dishes, or a subtle zoom on a pouring sauce. These controlled movements make the video feel professional and engaging, which is exactly what you want to attract customers.

Without motion control, you're relying on the AI to guess the camera movement, which often results in random or jerky motion. With motion control, you can direct the AI to execute a specific move, making your promo look intentional and high-end.

Step-by-Step Workflow for Your Team

Here's a workflow that your team can follow to create a restaurant promo using Van Gogh Studio's motion control feature. This assumes you have a script or shot list ready.

Step 1: Plan Your Shots and Motion

Before you open any tool, map out the shots you need. For a restaurant promo, typical shots include:

Hero shot of the signature dish (slow push-in)
Pan across the dining area (left to right)
Close-up of a chef plating (tilt down)
Zoom on a drink being poured (zoom in)

Decide on the motion for each shot. Write these down—you'll use them in your prompts.

Step 2: Generate Your Base Video with Text or Image

In Van Gogh Studio, you can start from a text prompt or an image. For food shots, starting with a high-quality image of the dish often yields better results. Use the AI Text/Image to Video feature to generate a base clip. For example, you might upload a photo of your signature burger and prompt: "Cinematic shot of a gourmet burger on a wooden board, restaurant background, soft lighting."

Step 3: Apply Motion Control

Once you have your base video, use the Motion Control feature (found in the AI Video Studio) to add or adjust camera movement. You can specify the motion type and direction. For instance, for the hero shot, you might choose a slow push-in. For the pan, you'd select a horizontal pan. The interface lets you set the intensity and duration.

Step 4: Enhance with Effects and Extend

After you've set the motion, you can enhance the clip with effects from the 100+ available in the AI Video Studio. For a restaurant promo, consider adding a subtle warm filter to make the food look more appetizing. You can also use the video extend feature to lengthen a clip if you need more time for a voiceover.

Step 5: Assemble and Edit

Once you have all your clips, assemble them in your preferred video editor. You can also use Van Gogh Studio's AI Video Studio to combine clips, add transitions, and overlay text. If you need a voiceover, you can generate one with the platform's avatar or text-to-speech features.

Step 6: Export and Share

Export your final video in the desired resolution and aspect ratio. Van Gogh Studio supports various output options, so choose what fits your platform (e.g., 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Instagram Reels).

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are some prompts you can adapt for your restaurant promo:

Hero dish push-in: "Slow push-in on a gourmet pizza with melted cheese, wood-fired oven in background, warm ambient light, shallow depth of field."
Dining area pan: "Smooth horizontal pan across a cozy restaurant interior with wooden tables, soft string lights, and happy customers."
Chef plating tilt: "Tilt down from chef's face to hands plating a colorful salad, professional kitchen, bright clean lighting."

Parameter tips:

Use a higher resolution for final export if you plan to use the video on a big screen.
Keep motion intensity moderate for food shots—too much movement can make the dish look unstable.
Match the motion direction to the composition: if the dish is centered, a push-in works; if there's a leading line, a pan along it feels natural.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Overusing motion: Too many moving shots can make the video feel chaotic. Use motion selectively for emphasis.
Ignoring aspect ratio: If you plan to post on social media, generate clips in the right aspect ratio from the start to avoid cropping issues.
Not checking model availability: Motion control parameters may vary by model. Always check the live model selector in Van Gogh Studio to see what's available.
Skipping the storyboard: Without a plan, you'll waste credits on random shots. Stick to your shot list.
