Restaurant marketing is visual. A short promo video that shows sizzling dishes, a cozy interior, or a happy table can do more than a static photo. But producing one used to require a camera crew, editing software, and time. With AI video generation, you can create a polished promo in minutes—no filming required. This guide walks you through a practical workflow using Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to turn a simple idea into a mouth-watering restaurant promo with video effects.

Why Use AI Video for Restaurant Promos?

Traditional video production is expensive and slow. You need to hire a videographer, book a location, and edit for days. AI video tools let you generate footage from text or images, apply cinematic effects, and iterate quickly. For a restaurant, this means you can test multiple promo angles—close-ups of food, ambiance shots, or chef action—without reshooting. The key is to use a platform that offers both generation and effects in one place, so you don't juggle multiple tools.

Step 1: Define Your Promo Concept

Before generating anything, decide what you want to show. For a restaurant promo, common angles include:

Signature dish close-up with steam rising
Interior ambiance with warm lighting
Chef plating a dish
Happy customers toasting

Write a short description of your scene. For example: "A close-up of a gourmet burger with melting cheese, steam rising, in a rustic restaurant setting, cinematic lighting." This text will guide the AI.

Step 2: Generate Your Base Video Clip

Go to the AI Video Studio at Van Gogh Studio. You'll see options for text-to-video and image-to-video. For a restaurant promo, text-to-video is a good start. Enter your scene description in the prompt box. You can also upload a photo of your actual dish or restaurant to use as a starting point—this ensures the video matches your real branding.

Select a model from the list (like Kling, Sora 2, or Veo 3.1). Availability and parameters vary, so check the live model selector for current options. Set your desired duration and resolution. Keep in mind that standard usage costs about 10 credits per video, but the exact cost depends on model, duration, and resolution. New accounts get 21 signup credits, so you can experiment for free.

Click generate and wait for the clip. The time varies, but it's usually under a minute.

Step 3: Apply Video Effects

Once you have your base clip, you can enhance it with effects. The AI Video Studio includes 100+ effects, such as slow motion, color grading, or adding motion blur. For a restaurant promo, consider:

Slow motion on a pouring sauce shot for drama
Color grading to warm up the scene and make food look appetizing
Zoom or pan to add movement to a static shot

In the studio, you'll find an effects panel. Apply the effect you want, preview it, and adjust intensity if needed.

Step 4: Extend or Upscale (Optional)

If your clip is too short, use the video extend feature to lengthen it. If you need higher resolution for a big screen, use the upscaler. These tools are built into the studio, so you don't need to export and re-import.

Step 5: Combine Multiple Clips (Optional)

For a longer promo, generate several clips and combine them. You can use the studio's editing features to stitch clips together, add transitions, and even overlay text. This is useful for a montage of dishes or a before-and-after transformation.

Step 6: Export and Share

Once you're happy with the video, export it in your desired format. Then upload it to your social channels, website, or digital menu screens.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are three prompts you can adapt for your restaurant promo:

Signature dish close-up: "Extreme close-up of a [dish name] with steam rising, garnished with herbs, shallow depth of field, warm ambient light, cinematic food photography style."
Interior ambiance: "Wide shot of a cozy restaurant interior with wooden tables, string lights, and soft bokeh, empty but inviting, cinematic color grading."
Chef action: "Chef in white uniform plating a dish in a professional kitchen, motion blur on hands, dramatic lighting, high-end culinary video."

Parameter tips:

Use a longer duration (e.g., 8-10 seconds) for more flexibility in editing.
Choose a higher resolution if you plan to use the video on a large screen.
Experiment with different models to see which one gives the most realistic food textures.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Vague prompts: "A restaurant" is too generic. Be specific about the dish, setting, and mood.
Ignoring aspect ratio: If you're posting to Instagram Reels, use a vertical format. Check the platform's recommended ratio before generating.
Overusing effects: Too many effects can make the video look artificial. Use one or two subtle effects.
Not checking model availability: Some models may not support certain parameters. Always check the live selector.
Forgetting credits: Each video costs credits. Monitor your balance to avoid running out mid-project.
