Selling on Gumroad means your product page has to do the selling while you sleep. Text and images help, but a short video can show your digital product in action, build trust, and answer questions before they’re asked. The problem? Hiring an editor or learning complex software is overkill for a side project. That’s where an AI video workflow comes in.

In this guide, you’ll learn a practical, step-by-step workflow using Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to turn your Gumroad product into a polished promo video—without touching a timeline or keyframe editor.

Why Use AI Video for Gumroad Products?

You have two main options for creating product videos:

Traditional editing: Record screen captures, cut clips, add captions, and export. This can take hours and requires software like Premiere or Final Cut.
AI video generation: Describe your product or paste its URL, and the AI generates a video that matches your brand. You can then refine it with effects and text overlays.

AI video is faster and more accessible, especially if you’re not a video editor. It also lets you iterate quickly—test different angles, styles, or calls-to-action without re-shooting.

Step-by-Step Workflow with AI Video Studio

Here’s how to create a product video for your Gumroad listing using Van Gogh Studio’s AI Video Studio.

Step 1: Prepare Your Product Info

Before you start, gather what you need:

A clear product name and one-sentence description.
The main benefit or problem it solves.
Your brand style (e.g., minimal, bold, playful).
Any specific visuals you want (e.g., a laptop mockup, a dashboard, a book cover).

If you have a product image or logo, keep it handy—you’ll use it later.

Step 2: Choose Your Input Method

Van Gogh Studio offers multiple ways to start a video:

Text-to-Video: Type a detailed prompt describing your product.
Image-to-Video: Upload a product image and animate it.
Link to Video: Paste your Gumroad product URL, and the AI will extract key info to generate a video.

For a Gumroad product, Link to Video is a great starting point because it pulls details directly from your listing. If you prefer more control, use text-to-video with a custom prompt.

Step 3: Craft a Detailed Prompt

If you’re using text-to-video, write a prompt that includes:

The product name and type.
The setting or context (e.g., “on a desk,” “in a cozy workspace”).
The action (e.g., “a person clicking through the course,” “the ebook flipping pages”).
The mood (e.g., “clean and professional,” “energetic and colorful”).
The aspect ratio (e.g., 16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 for social).

Example prompt for a Gumroad ebook:

“A sleek ebook titled ‘The Freelancer’s Handbook’ on a wooden desk, pages flipping automatically, with soft natural light and a cup of coffee nearby. Clean, professional, and inviting. 16:9 aspect ratio.”

Step 4: Generate and Review

Once you submit your prompt, the AI generates a video. Review it for:

Accuracy: Does it match your product?
Style: Does it fit your brand?
Length: Is it long enough for your needs?

If the first result isn’t perfect, tweak your prompt and try again. You can also generate multiple variations to compare.

Step 5: Enhance with Effects and Text Overlays

After you have a base video, use the AI Video Studio’s editing tools to polish it:

Add text overlays for your product name or a call-to-action like “Get it now.”
Apply effects to match your brand (e.g., a subtle zoom, a color grade).
Use motion control to adjust camera movement if needed.

These tools let you customize the video without leaving the platform.

Step 6: Export and Upload to Gumroad

When you’re happy with the video, export it in the resolution you need. Then upload it to your Gumroad product page. Most Gumroad pages support video embeds, so you can place it near the top of your description.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are a few prompt templates you can adapt for different Gumroad products:

For a digital course: “A laptop screen showing an online course interface, with a person’s hand clicking through modules, bright and modern office background.”
For a design template pack: “A grid of colorful design templates on a screen, with a cursor moving and selecting one, clean and creative studio setting.”
For a music pack: “A music production software interface with waveforms and knobs, a person adjusting sliders, moody lighting with neon accents.”

Parameter tips:

Use 16:9 for YouTube or Gumroad embeds, 1:1 for social media, and 9:16 for Stories/Reels.
Keep prompts concise but specific. Avoid vague words like “nice” or “cool.”
If you want a consistent brand look, mention your brand colors or style in the prompt.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Vague prompts: “Video of my product” won’t give you a usable result. Be specific about setting, action, and mood.
Ignoring aspect ratio: If you plan to embed on Gumroad, 16:9 is standard. For social, choose the right ratio from the start.
Skipping review: AI can generate odd artifacts or mismatched text. Always review and regenerate if needed.
Forgetting text overlays: A video without a clear call-to-action may not convert. Add your product name and a simple CTA.
