Beauty brands live on visual storytelling. A static product shot can only do so much—but a video that shows the texture, the glow, the motion of a serum or lipstick can stop the scroll. The challenge? Traditional video production is slow and expensive. With AI, you can transform a single product image into a dynamic video in minutes, no camera crew required.

In this guide, you'll learn a practical workflow to turn your beauty product photos into eye-catching videos using Van Gogh Studio's AI Text & Image to Video feature. We'll cover the steps, share prompt ideas, and highlight common pitfalls to avoid.

Why Use Image-to-Video for Beauty Content?

You have two main approaches to create product videos: shoot live-action or generate with AI. Live-action gives you full control but requires time, equipment, and editing skills. AI image-to-video lets you start with a high-quality product image (which you likely already have) and animate it with motion—like a lipstick gliding across lips or a serum bottle rotating with light reflections.

The advantage? Speed and flexibility. You can create multiple variations in minutes, test different motions, and produce content for social ads, website banners, or email campaigns without a big budget.

Step-by-Step Workflow: From Image to Video in Under 10 Minutes

Step 1: Prepare Your Product Image

Start with a clear, high-resolution image of your beauty product. Ideally, the background should be clean (white or neutral) so the AI can focus on the product. If your image is low-res, use the AI Image Upscaler to enhance it first.

Tip: Use a square or portrait orientation (1:1 or 9:16) for social media-friendly videos.

Step 2: Upload to Van Gogh Studio's Image-to-Video Tool

Go to the AI Text & Image to Video page. Click the upload button and select your product image. The tool will process it and prepare for generation.

Step 3: Write a Motion Prompt

Describe the motion you want to see. Be specific about the action, camera movement, and atmosphere. For beauty products, think about:

Product interaction: "The lipstick tube opens and the bullet twists up, with a glossy shine."
Camera movement: "Slow push-in towards the serum bottle, with soft light reflections."
Atmosphere: "Gentle steam rising from a facial mist, with a clean spa background."

Example prompt: "The product rotates slowly on a turntable, with soft studio lighting and a subtle shimmering background."

Step 4: Choose Your Model and Settings

Van Gogh Studio offers multiple AI models (like Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Runway, and more). Each model has different strengths—some are better at realistic motion, others at stylized effects. Check the live model selector to see what's available and what parameters you can adjust (duration, resolution, etc.). For a quick start, pick a model that balances speed and quality.

Step 5: Generate and Review

Click generate. The video will be created in a few minutes (exact time varies). Review the output. If it's not perfect, tweak your prompt or try a different model. You can also use the Motion Control feature to fine-tune camera paths if you need more precision.

Step 6: Enhance and Export

Once you're happy with the video, you can enhance it further using the Video Upscaler to improve resolution. Then download the final file and use it in your campaigns.

Reusable Prompts for Beauty Brands

Here are three prompt templates you can adapt:

Product Hero Shot: "[Product name] floating in mid-air, rotating slowly, with a soft gradient background and light particles."
Texture Close-Up: "Extreme close-up of [product texture] with a droplet of [liquid] sliding down, macro lens effect."
Lifestyle Scene: "[Product] on a marble vanity table, with a makeup brush sweeping across, warm morning light."

Parameter Tip: For social ads, keep videos short (5-10 seconds) to hold attention. Use 9:16 aspect ratio for Stories and Reels.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Vague prompts: "Make it move" won't give you good results. Be specific about the motion and camera.
Ignoring model differences: Not all models handle product motion equally. Test a couple to see which fits your brand style.
Skipping image quality: A blurry or cluttered image leads to poor video. Use a clean, high-res image.
Overcomplicating: Don't try to animate complex scenes. Start simple, then iterate.

AI Image Generator – Create product images from scratch if you don't have a photo.
Motion Control – Fine-tune camera movements for precise shots.
Video Upscaler – Enhance video resolution for crisp output.
