If you run a WooCommerce store, you know the struggle: product videos shot on a phone or pulled from a supplier often look soft, pixelated, or just not polished enough for your storefront. And adding a human presenter? That usually means hiring actors, renting a studio, or spending hours editing. But what if you could upscale your existing videos and add a professional talking avatar—all without leaving your browser? That's exactly what this guide covers.

Why Combine Upscaling with a Talking Avatar?

There are two main approaches to improving your product videos:

Manual editing: Use desktop software like Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve to upscale and add a voiceover. This is time-consuming, requires technical skills, and still doesn't give you a human presenter.
AI-powered platform: Use a tool like Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to upscale your video and generate a talking avatar in minutes. This approach is faster, cheaper, and doesn't require any editing experience.

For WooCommerce store owners, the AI approach wins because it lets you create professional-looking videos at scale—perfect for product pages, social ads, and email campaigns.

Step-by-Step Workflow with Van Gogh Studio

Here's how to upscale your product video and add a talking avatar using Van Gogh Studio's AI Avatar feature.

Step 1: Prepare Your Source Video

Start with the video you want to upscale. It could be a product demo, a customer testimonial, or a brand story. Make sure it's in a common format like MP4 or MOV. If your video is very low resolution (e.g., 360p), the upscaler will still improve it, but the result won't be as sharp as starting with 720p or higher.

Tip: If you don't have a video yet, you can use Van Gogh Studio's text-to-video or image-to-video tools to create one from scratch.

Step 2: Upload and Upscale Your Video

Log in to your Van Gogh Studio account (new users get 21 signup credits, no credit card required). Navigate to the AI Video Studio and upload your video. Look for the Upscale option. Select the desired resolution—usually 1080p or 4K—and let the AI enhance the details. This step is crucial for making your video look crisp on high-resolution screens.

Note: The exact upscaling parameters (like resolution options) may vary depending on the model you choose. Check the live model selector for current options.

Step 3: Generate Your Talking Avatar

Now for the fun part. Go to the AI Avatar feature. You'll see a list of avatar templates and voice options. Choose an avatar that fits your brand—professional, friendly, or even a cartoon character. Then, type or paste the script you want the avatar to say. You can also upload an audio file if you prefer a specific voiceover.

Tip: Keep your script conversational and benefit-focused. For example: "Hi, I'm Sarah. This ergonomic chair has saved my back—and it can do the same for you. Order today and get free shipping!"

Step 4: Combine the Upscaled Video and Avatar

Once your avatar video is generated, you have two options:

Option A: Use the avatar video as a separate clip and edit it together with your upscaled product video using Van Gogh Studio's video editor.
Option B: Use the avatar as an overlay on top of your product video. Some tools allow you to place the avatar in a corner, like a picture-in-picture effect. Check if Van Gogh Studio supports this in the editor.

If you're not sure, start with Option A—it's simpler and still looks professional.

Step 5: Export and Upload to WooCommerce

When you're happy with the final video, export it in a high resolution (1080p or higher). Then, upload it to your WooCommerce product page. You can also use the video in social media ads, YouTube, or email campaigns.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are some prompts you can use for your avatar script:

Product demo: "Hi, I'm [Name]. Let me show you how the [Product] works in under 30 seconds. First, press the power button. Then, select your settings. That's it—simple and effective."
Testimonial: "I was skeptical at first, but after using [Product] for a week, I noticed a huge difference. My customers love it too. Highly recommend!"
Limited-time offer: "Don't miss out! For this week only, get 20% off your first order. Use code SAVE20 at checkout. Hurry, offer ends soon!"

Parameter tips:

Choose a voice that matches your brand tone (e.g., energetic, calm, authoritative).
Keep the avatar video short—under 60 seconds is ideal for product pages.
Use the upscaler before adding the avatar to avoid upscaling artifacts in the final render.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Skipping the upscale step: If you add the avatar to a low-res video, the final output will look unprofessional. Always upscale first.
Overloading the script: Don't cram too much information into a short avatar video. Focus on one key message.
Ignoring aspect ratios: Make sure your video and avatar are in the same aspect ratio (e.g., 16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 for Instagram). Check the platform's requirements.
Forgetting to check credit costs: Each video generation uses credits. Standard usage is about 10 credits per video, but it can vary. Check the pricing page for current rates.

Long Video: If you need to create longer videos, such as tutorials or webinars, check out the Long Video feature.

Pricing: Review current plans and credit allowances on the Pricing page.
