Long Video Generator Retention Tips for

Auf dieser Seite

If you run a Shopify store, you know that video is the fastest way to show your product in action. But a 5-second clip rarely convinces a shopper to stay. What you need is a longer video that tells a story, answers objections, and keeps viewers engaged until the call-to-action. That’s where a long video generator comes in.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through a practical workflow using a long video generator to create retention-focused product videos for Shopify. You’ll learn how to structure your video, what prompts to use, and what pitfalls to avoid—so you can turn casual scrollers into buyers.

Why Longer Videos Matter for Shopify Retention

Short clips are great for grabbing attention, but they don’t give shoppers enough reason to trust you. A longer video—say 30 to 60 seconds—lets you demonstrate the product, highlight benefits, and address common concerns. This builds confidence and increases the chance of a purchase.

When you use a long video generator, you can create these videos without needing a film crew or expensive editing software. The AI handles the heavy lifting, and you focus on the story.

Long Video vs. Short Clips: What’s the Difference?

Short clips (under 15 seconds) are perfect for ads or social media teasers. Long videos (30 seconds or more) are better for product pages, email campaigns, or YouTube. They give you room to explain, demonstrate, and persuade.

For Shopify, a long video can be embedded on your product page to answer questions before a customer even asks. It can also be used in retargeting ads to remind shoppers why they were interested.

Step-by-Step Workflow: Creating a Retention-Focused Long Video

Step 1: Define Your Video’s Goal and Audience

Before you generate anything, decide what you want the video to achieve. Are you introducing a new product? Showing how it solves a problem? Or comparing it to a competitor? Your goal will shape the script and visuals.

For example, if you sell ergonomic chairs, your goal might be to show how the chair supports posture during long work hours. Your audience is remote workers who suffer from back pain.

Step 2: Write a Simple Script or Outline

You don’t need a full screenplay, but you do need a clear structure. A classic retention formula is:

Hook (first 3 seconds): Grab attention with a bold statement or question.
Problem: Show the pain point your product solves.
Solution: Introduce your product as the answer.
Demonstration: Show the product in use, highlighting key features.
Social proof: Mention reviews or testimonials (if you have them).
Call-to-action: Tell viewers what to do next (e.g., “Shop now”).

Keep your script under 150 words for a 60-second video. The AI will generate visuals based on your prompts, so you don’t need to describe every shot in detail.

Step 3: Choose the Right Model and Settings

In the long video generator, you’ll have access to multiple AI models. Each model has its own strengths—some are better at realistic scenes, others at stylized animations. Check the live model selector to see what’s available and what parameters you can adjust.

For product videos, you’ll likely want a model that handles motion well. If you’re not sure, start with the default and test a few options. Remember, the cost in credits depends on the model, duration, and resolution, so keep an eye on your balance.

Step 4: Craft Your Prompts

Your prompts are the instructions that guide the AI. Be specific about the scene, action, and mood. Here are a few reusable prompts for Shopify product videos:

Hook prompt: "Close-up of a person’s hand placing a [product] on a desk, bright natural light, shallow depth of field, cinematic feel."
Problem prompt: "Person sitting at a desk, rubbing their neck, looking uncomfortable, office background, muted colors."
Solution prompt: "Person sitting on a [product], smiling, typing on a laptop, modern home office, warm tones."
Demonstration prompt: "Slow pan around the [product] showing its adjustable features, clean white background, product photography style."

You can also use the Link to Video feature if you have a product URL. Just paste the link, and the AI will generate a video based on your product page content.

Step 5: Generate and Review

Once you’ve set your prompts and settings, hit generate. The video will take some time to produce. When it’s ready, review it carefully. Does it match your script? Is the pacing right? If not, tweak your prompts and regenerate.

Don’t be afraid to iterate. The first version might not be perfect, but with a few adjustments, you’ll get a video that feels polished.

Step 6: Add Effects or Extend (Optional)

If you want to make your video more engaging, you can use the AI Video Studio to add effects, adjust motion, or even extend the video. For example, you might add a subtle zoom to emphasize a feature or extend the ending to include a logo fade-out.

Step 7: Export and Upload to Shopify

When you’re happy with the video, export it in the appropriate format. Then upload it to your Shopify product page, embed it in an email, or use it in ads. Make sure the video is hosted on a fast CDN (like Shopify’s built-in video hosting) to avoid slow load times.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Too much text on screen: Keep text minimal. Let the visuals speak.
Ignoring the hook: If you don’t grab attention in the first 3 seconds, viewers will scroll away.
Overcomplicating prompts: Simple, clear prompts often yield better results than overly complex ones.
Not testing different models: Each model has a unique style. Test a few to find what fits your brand.
Forgetting the call-to-action: Always end with a clear next step.
