Podcasters know the struggle: you record a great episode, but turning it into shareable video clips feels like a second job. Editing, captions, b-roll, and formatting for different platforms eat up hours. What if you could generate polished video clips from your podcast audio or script with just a few clicks? That's exactly what an AI video generator with free credits can do. In this guide, I'll show you how to use Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to turn your podcast content into eye-catching videos—without spending a dime upfront.

Why Use an AI Video Generator for Podcast Clips?

Traditional editing requires software skills and time. AI video generators, on the other hand, can take your audio, transcript, or even a simple text prompt and produce a video with visuals, motion, and style. For podcasters, this means you can repurpose episodes into short clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or even full-length video episodes.

Van Gogh Studio stands out because it offers multi-model access in one subscription—including Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Runway, Wan, Seedance, and more. That means you're not locked into one AI's style; you can choose the best model for your clip. Plus, new accounts receive 21 signup credits, so you can test the workflow without a credit card.

Step-by-Step Workflow: Creating Podcast Clips with Van Gogh Studio

Step 1: Sign Up and Claim Your Free Credits

Go to Van Gogh Studio and create a free account. You'll automatically receive 21 signup credits—no credit card required. These credits are enough to generate a couple of videos (typical standard usage is about 10 credits per video, but actual cost depends on model, duration, resolution, and output type).

Step 2: Prepare Your Podcast Clip Content

Decide which part of your podcast you want to turn into a video. You can use:

A short audio snippet (e.g., 30-60 seconds)
A transcript or script of the clip
A text summary of the key point

For best results, choose a segment that has a clear message or a compelling hook. The AI will generate visuals based on your input, so the more specific you are, the better.

Step 3: Open the AI Video Studio

Navigate to the AI Video Studio. This is your all-in-one workspace for video generation and iteration. Here, you can select the model, input your content, and adjust parameters.

Step 4: Choose Your Input Method and Model

In the studio, you'll see options for text-to-video, image-to-video, and even link-to-video. For podcast clips, you'll likely use text-to-video or image-to-video. If you have a specific visual in mind (like a logo or a still from your podcast), you can upload an image and animate it.

Select a model from the dropdown. Since model availability and parameters can change, check the live model selector for the latest options. For a talking-head style clip, you might choose a model known for realistic avatars; for a more stylized video, pick a creative model like Kling or Veo.

Step 5: Write a Detailed Prompt

Your prompt is the key to getting a good video. Instead of just saying "podcast clip," describe the scene, mood, and action. For example:

"A professional podcast studio with two hosts sitting at a table with microphones. The camera slowly zooms in on the host speaking. Warm lighting, modern decor, high-quality cinematic look."

If you're using an audio clip, you can also upload it and let the AI sync visuals to the audio (if the model supports it). Check the model's capabilities in the selector.

Step 6: Generate and Review

Click generate. The video will be created using your credits. Review the output. If it's not perfect, you can iterate—adjust the prompt, change the model, or tweak parameters like duration and resolution. The AI Video Studio is designed for iteration, so don't be afraid to experiment.

Step 7: Export and Share

Once you're happy with the clip, export it. You can then upload it to your social channels or embed it in your podcast show notes.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are a few prompts you can adapt for different podcast clip styles:

Hook/Teaser: "A dynamic split-screen video showing a podcast host speaking on the left and animated sound waves on the right. Bold text overlay: 'The truth about productivity.' High energy, vibrant colors."
Interview Highlight: "A close-up of a guest speaking in a podcast studio, with soft bokeh background. Subtle camera movement, natural skin tones, professional lighting."
Storytime: "Animated illustration of a person walking through a city, with a voiceover narration. Style: 2D animation, warm colors, whimsical."

Parameter tips:

Duration: Keep clips short (15-30 seconds) for social media. Longer clips may cost more credits.
Resolution: Choose 1080p for most platforms. Higher resolutions may increase credit cost.
Aspect Ratio: Pick 9:16 for vertical platforms like TikTok and Reels, or 16:9 for YouTube.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Vague prompts: If you just say "podcast clip," the AI will generate something generic. Be specific about the setting, mood, and action.
Ignoring model capabilities: Not all models support audio input or avatars. Check the model selector to see what each model can do.
Overspending credits: Keep an eye on your credit balance. Each generation uses credits, so plan your tests wisely.
Forgetting to iterate: The first generation might not be perfect. Use the studio's iteration features to refine your video.

AI Text/Image to Video: If you want to start from a script or an image, this tool is your go-to.
Link to Video: Turn a product URL into an ad-ready video—great for podcast sponsorships.
Pricing: Check the latest plans and credit allowances to scale your video production.
