Why Combine Upscaling and Avatars?

There are two main approaches to creating Pinterest-ready videos:

Upscale only: Improves resolution but keeps the original format. Good for product demos or tutorials where the original footage is fine.

Upscale + avatar: Adds a presenter who speaks to the camera, making the video more personal and interactive. Ideal for tips, announcements, or storytelling.

The second approach often performs better on Pinterest because it creates a stronger connection with viewers. Van Gogh Studio lets you do both in one workflow.

Step-by-Step Workflow

Step 1: Upload or Generate Your Base Video

Start by uploading a low-resolution video you want to upscale, or generate a new one using text-to-video or image-to-video. For Pinterest, short vertical videos (2:3 or 9:16) work best, but you can adjust later.

Step 2: Upscale the Video

Go to the AI Video Studio and select the Upscaler tool. Upload your video and choose the desired resolution. The upscaler enhances details and sharpness, making your video look crisp on Pinterest. Note that the exact resolution options and credit cost depend on the model and settings you choose.

Step 3: Create Your Talking Avatar

Navigate to the AI Avatar feature. You can either pick a pre-made avatar or upload a photo of yourself. Write a script for your avatar to speak. The platform offers many voice options, so you can select a natural-sounding voice that matches your brand.

Step 4: Combine the Upscaled Video and Avatar

After generating your avatar video, you can overlay it on your upscaled background. Use the AI Video Studio to merge the two clips. You can position the avatar in a corner or as the main subject, depending on your design.

Step 5: Add Effects and Export

Add any final touches like captions, filters, or motion effects. Once you're happy, export the video in the resolution and aspect ratio that Pinterest recommends. The platform supports various output options, but check the live settings for current parameters.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

For the avatar script: Keep it short and punchy. Example: "Here are three quick tips to organize your home office. Follow for more!"

For the upscaler: Choose a higher resolution if your original is very low quality, but remember that higher resolutions may cost more credits.

For the avatar voice: Select a voice that matches your brand personality—friendly, professional, or energetic.

For Pinterest: Use a 2:3 aspect ratio for standard pins or 9:16 for story pins. Check the platform's current specs.

Common Pitfalls

Ignoring audio quality: If your original video has background noise, the upscaler won't fix it. Use a clean audio track or mute the original and add music.

Overusing effects: Too many effects can distract from your message. Keep it simple.

Not checking credit costs: Different models and resolutions have different credit costs. Always preview the cost before generating.

Forgetting to link to your Pinterest: If you're promoting a product or blog, include a clear call-to-action in the video or description.
