WhatsApp statuses are short, looping clips that disappear after 24 hours. They’re perfect for quick announcements, product teasers, or personal updates. But sometimes your raw footage is too short, or the camera movement feels static. That’s where video extend with motion control comes in. You can lengthen a clip and add smooth camera or subject motion, making your status more engaging without starting from scratch.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to use the Motion Control feature on Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to extend and animate your videos for WhatsApp status. We’ll cover the workflow, prompt tips, and common pitfalls.

Why Extend and Add Motion Control?

A standard WhatsApp status is 30 seconds long, but you might have a clip that’s only a few seconds. Extending it with AI can fill the gap, creating a seamless loop. Motion control adds a professional touch—think slow pans, zooms, or subject tracking—that makes your status stand out in a feed full of static images.

Instead of manually editing in complex software, you can use AI to do the heavy lifting. Van Gogh Studio’s Motion Control lets you guide the camera or subject movement, giving you creative control without a steep learning curve.

Step-by-Step Workflow

Step 1: Upload Your Video or Generate One

Go to the Motion Control page on Van Gogh Studio. You can start with an existing video clip or generate one from text or an image. If you’re creating from scratch, use the AI Text/Image to Video tool first to get a base clip.

Step 2: Choose the Extend Option

Look for the video extend feature within the Motion Control interface. This lets you lengthen your clip. You’ll typically specify how many seconds you want to add. Keep in mind that the exact options may vary, so check the live model selector for current parameters.

Step 3: Set Motion Control Parameters

Here’s where you guide the motion. You can choose from presets like:

Camera Pan: Move left, right, up, or down.
Zoom In/Out: Push into the subject or pull back.
Subject Tracking: Keep a moving subject centered.

Some models allow custom motion prompts. For example, you can type “slow dolly in” or “orbit around the product.” The available options depend on the model you select.

Step 4: Generate and Preview

Once you’ve set your parameters, hit generate. The AI will process your request and produce an extended clip with the motion applied. Preview it to see if it matches your vision. If not, tweak the motion settings or prompt and try again.

Step 5: Export for WhatsApp Status

When you’re happy with the result, export the video. Make sure it’s in a format compatible with WhatsApp (MP4 works best). You can then upload it directly to your status.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are some prompts you can try with motion control:

For a product teaser: “Slow zoom in on the product, with a subtle pan to the right.”
For a travel clip: “Smooth pan across the landscape, then tilt up to the sky.”
For a personal update: “Gentle push in on the subject, keeping the background blurred.”

Parameter tips:

Start with a short extension (2–3 seconds) to keep the motion natural.
Use a higher resolution if you plan to crop for WhatsApp status (vertical format).
Experiment with different models—some handle motion better than others. Check the model selector for the latest options.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Overdoing motion: Too much camera movement can make your video look dizzy. Keep it subtle.
Ignoring aspect ratio: WhatsApp statuses are vertical (9:16). If your original clip is horizontal, you’ll need to crop or generate in the right format.
Using low-quality source: If your base clip is blurry, the extended parts may also be blurry. Start with the highest quality you can.
Forgetting to preview: Always preview before exporting. AI isn’t perfect, and you might need to adjust.
