YouTube Shorts is a high-volume discovery surface, but turning views into clicks requires a clear call-to-action (CTA). Generic CTAs like "Link in bio" underperform. Instead, you need UGC-style ad videos that feel native to the platform and include CTAs that match viewer intent.
In this guide, you'll learn a practical workflow for creating UGC ad videos for YouTube Shorts using Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator). You'll get specific CTA ideas, step-by-step instructions, reusable prompts, and common pitfalls to avoid.
UGC (user-generated content) ads mimic authentic creator content. They feel less like traditional ads and more like a recommendation from a friend. On YouTube Shorts, where viewers scroll quickly, this authenticity helps stop the scroll.
You don't need to hire creators or film yourself. With Van Gogh Studio's UGC Ad Video feature, you can generate UGC-style ads from a text prompt or a product URL. This lets you test multiple CTA angles quickly and cheaply.
Before diving into the workflow, here are five CTA ideas that work well for UGC-style Shorts ads:
Pair these with a strong visual hook in the first 2 seconds.
Decide on the primary CTA you want to test. Write a short script (15–30 seconds) that includes a hook, a problem, a solution, and the CTA. For example:
Go to UGC Ad Video and sign in. New accounts get 21 signup credits, no credit card required.
You have two options:
For YouTube Shorts, use a vertical aspect ratio (9:16) if available in the model selector.
Van Gogh Studio gives access to multiple AI models (Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Runway, etc.). Select a model that suits your style. Check the live model selector for current availability and parameters. Set the duration to around 15–30 seconds.
Click generate. Typical standard usage is about 10 credits per video, but actual cost depends on model, duration, resolution, and output type. Review the output. If it doesn't match your vision, refine your prompt and regenerate.
After generating, you can use the AI Video Studio to add text overlays for your CTA, apply effects, or extend the video. This helps make the CTA pop.
Export the final video and upload it to YouTube Shorts. In the description, include a link to your product or landing page. Use a shortened URL for tracking.
Here are three prompts you can adapt:
Skincare Product "A young woman in a bright bathroom, holding a serum bottle, looking at the camera with a genuine smile. She applies the serum to her face. Text overlay: 'Finally, clear skin!' End with a close-up of the product and the text 'Get yours now'."
Fitness Gadget "A man in a home gym, using a resistance band, sweating and smiling. He shows the band to the camera. Text overlay: 'Home workouts made easy.' End with the product and 'Limited time offer'."
Kitchen Tool "A person in a modern kitchen, chopping vegetables with a multi-functional cutter. They show the result. Text overlay: 'Save hours in the kitchen.' End with 'Link in bio'."
