If you create Notion templates, you know the struggle: you have a great product, but your demo videos look static and boring. You want to show off your template’s features, but you don’t have a video team or expensive camera gear. Motion control AI video changes that. With the right workflow, you can generate cinematic camera moves and subject motion that make your Notion content feel professional — without leaving your desk.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through a practical, team-friendly workflow using Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) and its Motion Control feature. You’ll learn how to plan, generate, and integrate motion-controlled clips into your Notion marketing and documentation. No fluff, just steps you can use today.

Why Motion Control Matters for Notion Creators

Notion templates are visual products. When you share a template on Twitter, YouTube, or your own site, the video is your first impression. Static screen recordings don’t convey the polish or the “feel” of your template. Motion control lets you add subtle camera pans, zooms, or subject movements that guide the viewer’s eye and make your content feel alive.

Instead of hiring a videographer or spending hours in After Effects, you can generate motion-controlled clips from a text prompt or an image. This is especially useful for team workflows: a content manager can write prompts, a designer can tweak images, and a video editor can assemble the final cut — all without leaving the platform.

Step-by-Step Workflow: From Idea to Motion-Controlled Clip

Here’s a repeatable process that works for solo creators and small teams. It assumes you have a Van Gogh Studio account (free to start, with 21 signup credits).

Step 1: Define Your Shot List

Before you open the tool, decide what you need. For a Notion template demo, you might want:

A slow zoom into a dashboard screenshot
A pan across a kanban board
A subtle push-in on a button or CTA
A subject (like a cursor or avatar) moving across the screen

Write down 3–5 shots. This keeps your team aligned and prevents wasted credits.

Step 2: Prepare Your Input (Text or Image)

Motion Control works with both text prompts and images. For Notion templates, you’ll often start with a screenshot. Make sure your image is high-resolution and clearly shows the element you want to emphasize. If you’re using text, describe the scene and the motion explicitly.

Step 3: Open the Motion Control Tool

Go to the Motion Control page in Van Gogh Studio. You’ll see options to upload an image or enter a text prompt. Select the model you want to use (availability varies — check the live model selector). For motion control, you’ll typically choose a model that supports camera and subject movement.

Step 4: Write a Motion-Focused Prompt

Your prompt should include three things: the subject, the motion, and the camera move. For example:

“A clean Notion dashboard with a kanban board, slow push-in towards the center column, subtle parallax, soft lighting, 4K, cinematic.”

Or for a cursor effect:

“A cursor moving across a Notion page, clicking on a checkbox, smooth motion, screen recording style, high detail.”

Be specific about the direction and speed. Words like “slow,” “fast,” “left to right,” or “orbit” help the model understand.

Step 5: Generate and Review

Click generate. The video will take a few moments (exact time varies). Review the output. If it’s not right, tweak your prompt or try a different model. Don’t be afraid to iterate — that’s part of the workflow.

Step 6: Edit and Integrate

Once you have your clips, you can use the AI Video Studio to add effects, extend the video, or upscale it. Then, drop the clips into your Notion page or your video editor. For Notion, you can embed the video directly or use it in a Loom-style demo.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

Here are three prompts that work well for Notion creators:

Product Demo Zoom – “Slow zoom into a Notion template dashboard, clean UI, soft shadows, professional, 4K.”
Feature Highlight Pan – “Pan left to right across a Notion database view, highlighting rows, smooth motion, high detail.”
Cursor Interaction – “Cursor clicks on a Notion button, subtle glow effect, screen recording style, crisp.”

Parameter tips:

Use “slow” for elegant, professional moves.
Specify the direction (e.g., “push in,” “pan right”).
If you want a subject (like a cursor), mention it explicitly.
Check the model selector for motion control support — not all models handle it equally.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Vague prompts – “Make a video” won’t work. Be specific about motion and subject.
Ignoring aspect ratio – If you plan to embed in Notion, consider a 16:9 or 1:1 ratio. Check the platform’s options.
Overusing motion – Too much movement can be distracting. Use motion to guide attention, not to show off.
Forgetting to check credits – Each video costs about 10 credits on standard settings. Keep an eye on your balance.
Not iterating – The first generation might not be perfect. Adjust and regenerate.

While Motion Control is your primary tool, these other features can help:

AI Text/Image to Video – Turn any text or image into a video clip, perfect for quick demos.
AI Video Studio – Add effects, extend, and upscale your motion-controlled clips.
Video Effects – Apply filters and transitions to make your Notion content pop.
