Creating Instagram Reels that convert is a mix of storytelling and visual appeal. But if you're promoting a product, you don't want to spend hours scripting and shooting. That's where Link to Video comes in: paste a product URL, and the AI generates ad-ready video creatives automatically. In this guide, I'll show you a practical workflow that combines proven script formulas with the Link to Video feature, so you can produce Reels that feel native and drive action.

Why Use Link to Video for Reels?

Instagram Reels are short, punchy, and often product-focused. The challenge is producing enough variations to test what works. Link to Video solves that by turning any product URL into a video—no filming, no editing, no voiceover needed. You can generate multiple versions in minutes, each with a different script angle, and then pick the winners.

Compared to traditional methods (hiring a creator, using stock footage, or manually editing), Link to Video is faster and cheaper. It's especially useful for e-commerce brands, dropshippers, and social media managers who need a steady stream of creatives.

Step-by-Step Workflow: From URL to Reel

Here's how to go from a product page to a polished Instagram Reel using Van Gogh Studio's Link to Video.

Step 1: Prepare Your Product URL

Choose a product page that is clean and descriptive. The AI reads the URL's content, so make sure the page includes key details: product name, features, benefits, and maybe customer reviews. If the page is cluttered or lacks text, the AI might miss important selling points.

Step 2: Paste the URL into Link to Video

Go to the Link to Video page and paste your product URL. The platform will fetch the product information and prepare to generate video options.

Step 3: Select a Script Formula

Before generating, decide on the script formula you want to use. Here are three proven formulas for Reels:

Problem/Solution: Start with a pain point, then show how the product solves it.
Feature/Highlight: Showcase a specific feature or benefit in a visually engaging way.
Social Proof: Use customer reviews or testimonials to build trust.

You can also combine formulas, but starting with one keeps the message clear.

Step 4: Customize the Video Parameters

Set your desired aspect ratio (9:16 for Reels), duration (15–30 seconds is ideal), and style. The platform offers various models and effects—choose one that matches your brand's vibe. If you're unsure, start with the default settings and adjust later.

Step 5: Generate and Review

Click generate. The AI will produce a video based on the URL content and your chosen parameters. Review the output: does it align with your script formula? Is the pacing right? If not, tweak the parameters or try a different model.

Step 6: Edit and Enhance (Optional)

If you want to add text overlays, music, or effects, use the built-in video editor. You can also extend or upscale the video if needed. For Reels, adding captions is crucial—many viewers watch without sound.

Step 7: Export and Post

Once you're happy, export the video in high resolution and upload it to Instagram. Don't forget to write a compelling caption and use relevant hashtags.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

While Link to Video doesn't require a text prompt (it uses the URL), you can influence the output by choosing the right model and style. Here are some tips:

Model selection: Different models have different strengths. For product-focused Reels, choose a model known for clear visuals and smooth motion. Check the live model selector for current options.
Aspect ratio: Always select 9:16 for Reels to avoid cropping.
Duration: Keep it under 30 seconds to maintain engagement.
Style: Use a style that matches your brand—minimalist, vibrant, or cinematic.

If you want more control, you can combine Link to Video with the text-to-video feature: generate a script manually, then use that as a prompt. But for quick, data-driven creatives, Link to Video is the fastest route.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Ignoring the URL content: If the product page lacks details, the AI might produce generic videos. Ensure your product page is informative.
Not testing multiple formulas: Don't settle for the first video. Generate several variations using different script formulas to see what resonates.
Forgetting captions: Many Reels are watched on mute. Add text overlays to convey the message.
Overcomplicating: Start simple. You can always add effects later.
