Beauty brands live on visuals. A static product shot can show texture and color, but a video can show how a serum glides, how a lipstick swatches, or how light catches a highlighter. The challenge is that producing video content traditionally requires a shoot, editing, and a budget. With AI image-to-video tools, you can turn existing product photos into short, scroll-stopping clips in minutes. This guide walks you through a practical workflow using Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to create beauty videos from your still images.

Why Use Image-to-Video for Beauty Content?

If you already have a library of product photos, image-to-video is the fastest way to repurpose them. Instead of starting from a text prompt and hoping the AI gets your product right, you provide a reference image. That means the AI knows exactly what your product looks like, so the output stays on-brand. This is especially useful for beauty products where color accuracy and packaging details matter.

Compared to text-to-video, image-to-video gives you more control. You can animate a specific product shot, add subtle motion to a model's hair, or create a dynamic camera move around a lipstick. For beauty brands, this approach is ideal for social ads, product demos, and even website hero videos.

Step-by-Step: Turning a Product Photo into a Video

Here’s how to create an image-to-video clip on Van Gogh Studio. The platform offers multiple models, so you can pick the one that best suits your style and budget.

Step 1: Prepare Your Image

Start with a high-resolution product photo. The better the input, the better the output. Make sure the image is well-lit, in focus, and shows the product clearly. If you need to enhance or upscale your image first, use the AI image suite on the platform. You can also generate a product image from scratch with the AI Image Generator if you don’t have a photo yet.

Step 2: Go to the AI Text & Image to Video Tool

Navigate to the AI Text & Image to Video page. This is where you’ll upload your image and write your prompt.

Step 3: Upload Your Image and Write a Prompt

Click to upload your product photo. Then, in the prompt box, describe the motion and scene you want. Be specific about the action, camera movement, and mood. For example, “The lipstick tube slowly rotates, with soft studio lighting and a subtle shimmer on the surface.”

Step 4: Choose a Model and Settings

Select a video model from the dropdown. Options may include Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Runway, Wan, and Seedance. Each model has different strengths—some are better at realistic motion, others at stylized effects. Check the live model selector for current availability and parameters. You can also set duration and resolution, but keep in mind that higher settings may cost more credits.

Step 5: Generate and Review

Click generate. The platform will use your credits to create the video. Typical standard usage is around 10 credits per video, but the exact cost depends on the model, duration, resolution, and output type. Once the video is ready, review it. If it’s not perfect, you can tweak your prompt and try again.

Step 6: Enhance and Export

After you’re happy with the clip, you can use the video upscaler to improve resolution or apply effects from the AI Video Studio. Then download the final video and use it in your campaigns.

Reusable Prompts for Beauty Brands

Here are three prompt templates you can adapt for your own products:

Product Hero Shot: “A [product name] bottle on a clean white background, slowly rotating with a soft shadow, cinematic lighting, and a gentle glow.”
Texture Close-Up: “Close-up of [product name] texture, with a finger applying it, smooth motion, macro lens effect, warm tones.”
Lifestyle Scene: “A [product name] on a marble vanity, with a makeup brush moving toward it, soft natural light, shallow depth of field.”

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Using low-quality images: Blurry or pixelated images will produce poor videos. Upscale your image first if needed.
Overcomplicating the prompt: Keep prompts simple and focused on one action. Too many elements can confuse the AI.
Ignoring model differences: Not all models handle motion the same way. Experiment with a couple to see which fits your brand aesthetic.
Forgetting about credits: Each generation costs credits. Monitor your usage, especially if you’re on a free plan (new accounts get 21 signup credits).

AI Image Generator: Create product images from scratch if you don’t have photos yet.
Motion Control: Fine-tune camera movements and object motion for more precise videos.
Video Upscaler: Enhance the resolution of your final video for high-quality output.
