Pinterest is a visual discovery engine, and video pins are proven to boost engagement. But creating video content for Pinterest can be time-consuming and expensive. That's where a free AI video generator comes in. With the right tool, you can turn a simple text prompt or image into a stunning video pin in minutes—without touching complex editing software.

In this guide, you'll learn how to use Van Gogh Studio (also known as FreeVideoGenerator) to create Pinterest-ready videos from scratch. We'll cover the entire workflow, from generating your first video to optimizing it for the platform. Plus, you'll get reusable prompts and common pitfalls to avoid.

Why Use AI for Pinterest Videos?

Pinterest users are looking for inspiration, DIY ideas, recipes, fashion tips, and more. Video pins can convey motion and emotion better than static images, leading to higher click-through rates and saves. However, producing video content traditionally requires filming, editing, and expensive software. AI video generators solve this by letting you describe your idea in text or upload an image, and the AI does the heavy lifting.

Step-by-Step Workflow with AI Video Studio

Follow these steps to create your first Pinterest video using Van Gogh Studio's AI Video Studio.

Step 1: Sign Up and Get Your Free Credits

Go to Van Gogh Studio and create a new account. You'll receive 21 signup credits immediately—no credit card required. These credits are enough to generate a few videos and images, so you can test the platform risk-free.

Step 2: Open the AI Video Studio

Once logged in, navigate to the AI Video Studio. This is your all-in-one hub for video generation and editing. You'll see options for text-to-video, image-to-video, and more.

Step 3: Choose Your Input: Text or Image

Decide whether you want to start with a text prompt or an image. For Pinterest, both work well:

Text-to-video: Type a detailed description of the scene you want. For example, "a cozy kitchen with a woman baking chocolate chip cookies, warm lighting, close-up shots."
Image-to-video: Upload a static image (like a product photo or a mood board) and let the AI animate it.

Step 4: Select Your Model and Settings

In the studio, you'll see a model selector. Van Gogh Studio gives you access to multiple AI models like Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Runway, and more. Each model has different strengths—some are better for realistic footage, others for stylized animations. Check the live model selector for current availability and parameters. You can also adjust resolution, duration, and aspect ratio. For Pinterest, a vertical 2:3 or 9:16 aspect ratio works best.

Step 5: Generate and Review

Click generate. The video will be processed, and you'll see a preview. Typically, standard usage costs around 10 credits per video, but the exact cost depends on the model, duration, resolution, and output type. Review the result and decide if it matches your vision.

Step 6: Enhance with Effects and Motion Control

If you want to add extra polish, use the built-in effects and motion control features. You can apply filters, add camera movements, or even extend the video. These tools help you create a more dynamic pin that stands out in the feed.

Step 7: Download and Upload to Pinterest

Once you're satisfied, download the video in high resolution. Then, upload it directly to Pinterest as a video pin. Write a compelling description with relevant keywords and hashtags to improve discoverability.

Reusable Prompts for Pinterest Niches

Here are some prompt templates you can adapt for your niche:

DIY/Crafts: "Step-by-step tutorial on making a paper flower, overhead shot, bright natural light, pastel colors."
Recipes: "Close-up of hands kneading dough, rustic kitchen, flour dust in the air, warm tones."
Fashion: "Model twirling in a flowy summer dress, golden hour, beach background, slow motion."
Home Decor: "Living room with modern furniture, camera panning from window to fireplace, cozy ambiance."

Parameter Tip: For Pinterest, set the aspect ratio to 2:3 (vertical) or 9:16 (full-screen). Use high resolution (1080p or higher) to ensure crisp quality on all devices.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Ignoring aspect ratio: Pinterest favors vertical videos. If you generate a landscape video, it will be cropped or look awkward in the feed.
Overcomplicating prompts: Too many details can confuse the AI. Keep prompts clear and focused on the main action.
Not checking model availability: Models change, and some may not be available for all parameters. Always check the live selector.
Forgetting to add text overlays: Pinterest users often watch videos without sound. Add text overlays to convey your message visually.
