AI Video for Ecommerce on a Small Budget: Step-by-Step Guide

Creating engaging product videos is essential for ecommerce, but hiring videographers or buying expensive equipment can drain your budget. AI video generation offers a cost-effective alternative, letting you turn text or images into professional-looking videos in minutes. In this guide, you'll learn a practical workflow using the AI Video Studio from Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to produce high-quality product videos without breaking the bank.

Why AI Video for Ecommerce?

Traditional video production involves scripting, shooting, editing, and often re-shooting. For a small business, that's time and money you might not have. AI video tools let you generate videos from a simple text prompt or a product image, drastically reducing both cost and production time. You can create multiple variations for A/B testing, social media ads, and product demos—all from your desk.

Step-by-Step Workflow with AI Video Studio

Here's how to create a budget-friendly product video using the AI Video Studio:

Step 1: Sign Up and Get Free Credits

Go to FreeVideoGenerator.io and create a free account. New accounts receive 21 signup credits, and no credit card is required. This lets you test the workflow without any upfront investment.

Step 2: Choose Your Input: Text or Image

Decide whether you'll start with a text prompt or a product image. If you have a clear product photo, use image-to-video for more accurate results. If you're describing a concept, text-to-video works well. For this guide, we'll use a product image.

Step 3: Access the AI Video Studio

Navigate to the AI Video Studio. This is your central hub for generating and iterating on videos. You'll see options for text-to-video, image-to-video, and more.

Step 4: Craft Your Prompt

Write a detailed prompt that describes the motion, camera angle, and mood. For example:

"A sleek black water bottle rotating slowly on a wooden table, soft natural light, shallow depth of field, product photography style, smooth camera pan."

Be specific about the movement and setting to get the best results.

Step 5: Select Model and Parameters

Choose a video model from the available options (like Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, etc.). Availability and parameters can change, so check the live model selector for current options. Set your desired resolution and duration, keeping in mind that higher resolution and longer duration may cost more credits. Typically, standard usage is about 10 credits per video, but actual cost depends on the model and settings.

Step 6: Generate and Review

Click generate and wait for your video to be created. Review the output. If it's not perfect, you can iterate by tweaking your prompt or using the video extend feature to add more length.

Step 7: Download and Use

Once satisfied, download your video and use it in your ecommerce listings, social media, or ads. You can also upscale it for higher quality if needed.

Reusable Prompts and Tips

Here are three prompt templates you can adapt:

1. Product Hero Shot: "[Product name] on a clean white background, rotating 360 degrees, studio lighting, high detail."
2. Lifestyle Scene: "[Product name] being used by a person in a [setting], candid style, natural colors, cinematic."
3. Feature Highlight: "Close-up of [specific feature] of [product name], macro shot, dramatic lighting, slow motion."

Tip: Use negative prompts if the tool supports them to avoid unwanted elements (e.g., "no text, no watermark").

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

• Vague prompts: Be specific about motion, camera, and lighting. Vague prompts lead to generic videos.
• Ignoring credit costs: Keep an eye on your credit balance. Standard videos cost around 10 credits, but complex settings can increase that.
• Not iterating: The first generation might not be perfect. Use the studio's tools to refine and regenerate.
• Forgetting aspect ratios: If you need a specific format for ads (e.g., 9:16 for Stories), set it before generating.
