Creating video lessons is one of the most time-consuming parts of running an online course. You have to script, record, edit, and polish—often for hours per module. An AI video generator can cut that down dramatically, but only if you have a system for turning your course topics into consistent, on-brand videos. That’s where a prompt library comes in.

A prompt library is a collection of reusable text prompts that you can adapt for different lessons. Instead of starting from scratch each time, you copy a proven prompt, tweak a few variables, and generate a video that matches your course style. This guide walks you through building your own prompt library using the AI Video Studio on Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator).

Why a Prompt Library Beats One-Off Prompts

If you generate videos ad hoc, you’ll end up with inconsistent visuals, varying lengths, and a lot of wasted credits. A prompt library gives you:

Consistency: Every video follows the same visual style, tone, and structure.
Speed: You can produce a new lesson video in minutes, not hours.
Cost control: You know exactly which prompts work and how many credits they use, so you can budget better.

You could try to memorize prompts or keep them in a notes app, but a structured library—organized by lesson type—makes it easy to find and reuse what works.

Step-by-Step: Build Your Prompt Library in AI Video Studio

Step 1: Define Your Course Video Styles

Before writing prompts, decide what types of videos you need. Common ones for course creators include:

Explainer videos: Short clips that explain a concept.
Intro/outro sequences: Consistent opening and closing for each module.
Scenario-based examples: Real-world situations that illustrate a point.
Summary/review clips: Quick recaps of key takeaways.

List your video types and note the typical duration and visual style for each. This will guide your prompt templates.

Step 2: Open AI Video Studio and Explore Models

Go to the AI Video Studio on Van Gogh Studio. You’ll see a model selector with options like Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Runway, Wan, and Seedance. Each model has different strengths—some are better for realistic scenes, others for animation. For course content, you might prefer a model that handles text overlays well or one that creates clean, professional visuals.

Check the live model selector for current availability and parameters. Don’t assume a model will always be there; the platform updates its lineup.

Step 3: Create a Prompt Template for Each Video Type

For each video type, write a base prompt that includes placeholders for the specific topic. For example, an explainer video prompt might look like:

"Create a [duration] second video explaining [topic]. Use a [style] visual style with [color palette] colors. Include a clear voiceover that walks through the key points: [point 1], [point 2], [point 3]. End with a call to action to [desired action]."

You’ll fill in the placeholders each time you use it. Keep the structure consistent so your videos feel cohesive.

Step 4: Test and Refine Your Prompts

Generate a few test videos using your templates. Note what works and what doesn’t. For example, you might find that certain models handle text better, or that a specific style prompt yields more professional results. Adjust your templates accordingly.

Keep a log of which prompts and models produce the best results. This becomes your reference for future videos.

Step 5: Organize Your Library

Store your prompt templates in a document or spreadsheet. Organize by video type, and include notes on the model used, the credit cost, and any tweaks that improved the output. This makes it easy to replicate success.

Reusable Prompts for Course Creators

Here are three prompt templates you can adapt for your own library:

1. Concept Explainer

"Create a 30-second video explaining [concept]. Use a clean, modern style with a neutral background. The voiceover should be friendly and clear, covering: [definition], [example], [benefit]. End with a text overlay that says: [key takeaway]."

2. Module Intro

"Generate a 10-second intro for a course module titled [module title]. Use a dynamic, energetic style with a gradient background. Include the title text and a subtle animation. The tone should be motivating and professional."

3. Scenario-Based Example

"Create a 45-second video showing a real-world scenario where [problem] occurs. Use a realistic style. The voiceover narrates how [solution] resolves the issue. Include a closing shot with a call to action: [CTA]."

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Being too vague: Prompts like "make a video about marketing" produce generic results. Be specific about style, duration, and content.
Ignoring model differences: Not all models handle every style equally. Test a few to find what works for your course.
Overusing credits: Each video costs about 10 credits on standard settings. Keep an eye on your usage and optimize prompts to avoid waste.
Forgetting to update your library: As your course evolves, your prompts should too. Review and refine them regularly.
