Local businesses often struggle to produce multiple video ad variations for A/B testing. Creating different versions manually is time-consuming and expensive. AI video effects can help you generate multiple creative variations quickly, so you can test what resonates with your local audience. In this guide, you'll learn how to use the AI Video Studio on Van Gogh Studio (FreeVideoGenerator) to create A/B test creatives for your local business.

Why Use AI Video Effects for A/B Testing?

A/B testing is essential for optimizing ad performance. With AI video effects, you can easily create variations of your video ads—changing backgrounds, adding text overlays, adjusting colors, or even altering the scene—without reshooting. This allows you to test different hooks, styles, and calls-to-action to see which drives more engagement and conversions.

Step-by-Step Workflow in AI Video Studio

Step 1: Start with a Base Video

Begin by creating a base video of your product or service. You can use text-to-video, image-to-video, or even Link to Video (if you have a product URL). For a local business, a simple video showcasing your storefront, product, or a happy customer works well.

Step 2: Duplicate and Apply Different Effects

Once you have your base video, duplicate it in the AI Video Studio. Then, apply different effects to each copy. For example:

Effect 1: Add a warm, inviting color grade.
Effect 2: Apply a dynamic zoom or motion effect.
Effect 3: Overlay text with a different call-to-action.

Step 3: Adjust Motion and Parameters

Use the motion control features to change the camera movement or object motion. You can also adjust parameters like aspect ratio, duration, and resolution to suit different ad placements (e.g., square for Instagram, vertical for Stories).

Step 4: Generate and Export

Generate each variation. The AI Video Studio will process them, and you can export them in the desired format. Remember, typical standard usage is about 10 credits per video, but actual costs depend on model, duration, resolution, and output type.

Step 5: Set Up Your A/B Test

Upload your variations to your ad platform (e.g., Facebook, Google) and run an A/B test. Make sure to test one variable at a time to get clear results.

Reusable Prompts and Parameter Tips

When using text-to-video or image-to-video, you can use prompts to guide the AI. Here are some examples:

For a local coffee shop: "A cozy coffee shop interior with warm lighting, barista pouring latte art, inviting atmosphere."
For a local gym: "A modern gym with people working out, energetic vibe, bright lighting."

Parameter tips:

Use different aspect ratios for different platforms (e.g., 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for TikTok).
Keep videos short (15-30 seconds) for ads.
Experiment with different models available in the studio (Kling, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, etc.) to see which produces the best results for your niche.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Not testing one variable at a time: If you change multiple elements, you won't know which one caused the performance difference.
Ignoring the audience: Make sure the effects align with your local audience's preferences. A playful effect might not work for a law firm.
Overcomplicating the video: Too many effects can distract from your message. Keep it simple and focused.
Forgetting to check model availability: Some effects or models may not be available in your plan or region. Always check the live model selector.

AI Text/Image to Video: Create base videos from text or images.
Link to Video: Turn a product URL into a video ad.
Pricing: Check current plans and credits.
